Client Challenge:
Client needed a new site design optimized for mobile and desktop with standard contact forms, content management and downloadable documents. The appearance of the site needed to exemplify the tone and approach the client used in her counseling practice.

 

Cartwheel Solution:
The main challenge on this project was getting a design that captured the tone and character of the client. We worked with them and quickly determined a design strategy that worked. The site was built on Cartwheel's own content management platform with easy creation and maintenance of site content - images, text, downloadable documents and custom contact forms for specific purposes.

Customized E-Commerce Site for a small startup

Client Challenge:
Startup client needed a website to promote and sell their selection of 3 products. Open source e-commerce products had a large number of unneeded features and unnecessarily complicated implementations. Online e-commerce sites took too big of a share of revenue or did not offer the kind of look and feel or features for specials and ordering quantity discounts the client wanted.

 

Cartwheel Solution:
After more than a decade of e-commerce experience, Cartwheel is well-prepared to implement online transaction systems. Cartwheel quickly and inexpensively built a mobile-friendly responsive website on top of our standard content management platform and added a custom shopping cart and checkout that presented all of the information the client wanted to make available on each product as well as customized pricing based on specific quantities or as specials. The site processes payment using a merchant id and online gateway with a dramatically lower transaction and interest rate than many online e-commerce sites.

Customized website for city government

Client Challenge:
A small community needed a website to market and promote their area for development and communicate with its citizens and allow access to forms and documents needed for permits and code compliance. They also wanted to inexpensively publish ordinances and summaries of city council meetings as well as news and announcements.

 

Cartwheel Solution:
Cartwheel's content management system acted as the base for the site pages and was customized to allow easy management and updating of downloadable documents organized into a folder hierarchy. Relevant documents (latest updates) in particular categories are automatically displayed on the related pages with the site

Online Video Cooking Class startup

Client Challenge:
Startup client needed a website to to offer live online video cooking classes. There is no software or group of services that would allow this project to flourish without a huge amount of time spent reconciling the transactions, class scheduling and user management. The client's business model was also evolving as they tested prototypes of the new site.

 

Cartwheel Solution:
Cartwheel constructed a custom, integrated website to allow the startup to keep all of their revenue and tasks in one system. Video conferencing for the classes was accomplished using an existing service but required integration with the main website to automatically schedule and launch conferences for the classes. Instructors are able to create classes, schedule when sessions would be offered (classes can have multiple recurring sessions), maintain their biography and profile (including photos and video) and manage student rosters and communication with the class in advance of the sessions. Students can register and pay for classes including ordering delivery of ingredients, communicate with their instructors in advance of the class and participate in the actual live class sessions. Administrators can manage any user functions as well as view reports on class signups and revenue and ingredient orders.

Website for a nature preserve

Client Challenge:
Client needed a website to promote their mission and offer memberships, merchandise and tour signups to site visitors. In addition, the organization had volunteers signing up who would act as guides and docents for the tours so tour availability and volunteer scheduling was critical. Prior to constructing the website, these functions were completed over the phone and managed using multiple spreadsheets. Office and volunteer staff were spending too many hours with record keeping and there were continuing issues with communicating information among all of the participants.

 

Cartwheel Solution:
Many of the individual needs for this client could have been fulfilled by various services but the overhead to synchronize all of the data would be prohibitive and not offer any real improvement compared to the old approach. Cartwheel constructed a a complete web application for tour participants to select and pay for tours and purchase merchandise, volunteers to register and sign up to lead or assist on tours, and supporters to set up and pay for memberships. The system allows administrators to create and manage tours, manage volunteer participation and receive reports on tour sign ups, transactions and email notifications, Admins were also able to create news items, photo and video galleries and manage the content of site pages.
